home > countertenor profiles > robert kuizengaRobert Kuizenga (1984) began as a boy soprano in Roder Boys Choir conducted by Bouwe Dijkstra. As head of the Roder Boys Choir soloist he could include the "Angel" from the oratorio Jephtha Party (Trade) to account for under Paul Mc Creesh. After his voice broke, as a countertenor he had lessons from Jan Wanderer and Eugenie Ditewig at the Conservatory of Utrecht. In recent years, Robert has studied with Pierre Mak and Michael Chance. As a soloist he performed in performances of oratorios, passions and cantatas. Here he may sing under conductors such as Ton Koopman and Jos van Veldhoven. Robert recently won the jury and audience prize at the contest "The Lord of the Hohe Messe" which he attended master classes with Johan Zomer. Besides Robert regularly active as a chorister. Robert was 15 years part of the core team of Vocal ensemble The Gents and sang in various professional ensembles.
